6 Stars for Mt Camel House

The latest project from Ward Carter art + architecture achieves a six star energy rating!

The Mount Camel House located in central Victoria is a long ply clad box with a slender eyebrow roof.  The overall structure is very simple with all steelwork designed as a bolt together system for ease of erection by just 2 people.

The use of solar studies and specifications of a mixture of performance glazing, double glazing and high performance wall/roof insulation has allowed this modest house with a modest budget to achieve the high star rating and to maintain large areas of glazing. Combine these features with a grey/black water treatment plant that will water the garden and 40,000L of water storage capacity and you have a highly sustainable project.

Ward Carter has an office policy of achieving a minimum 6 star energy rating for new houses wherever possible. If you want to know more about this project or are interested in developing a similar project,  contact us on 61 3 5441 7855.
